What was DU like the night of the 2002 midterm elections?

1. I remember we thought we would do a lot better than we did,

going into them. It became very frustrating.

2. It was fucking bananas.

A WHOLE SHITLOAD of traffic. We had to sacrifice our sig lines (we didn't have avatars then). We were hacked by some freepers, so that a message box kept coming up that said "ALL YOUR SENATE ARE BELONG TO US". Lame.

I'm not gonna be on DU on election night 2004, anyway.

9. Actually what happened was we were invaded by freepers that night

Right around the time of the mid terms we were still using the old program and the servers couldn't accomodate the traffic. New registrations had been shut off. The board began moveing fast and of course this was the first national election without VNS so results were being called by CNN, Fox et al...by the end of the evening it was pretty depressing...I stayed up and the only minor victory was a nearly complete Dem party sweep in California which, of course, is moot since our recall coup here last year.

By around midnight that night it was nearly impossible to get DU.

I then stayed in the bed for the next week -- couldn't deal with reality.
