It's "Abandon Ship!" time at my soon-to-be ex-job.

What a week it's been at work!

As most of you know, my place of employment--Pelton's Drugstore--will be closing its doors at some point in the foreseeable future (although the company's tight-lipped, douche-bag owner still hasn't told us the exact date). So the lot of us have been looking for new jobs.

Well, I just found out that today was the last day for Hal, one of the store's two pharmacists. He's leaving on two weeks' vacation and has decided not to return to the drugstore. Hal says, and correctly so, that there's no future at Pelton's.

Last Friday, Phil, the head pharmacist and store manager, put his house up for sale. By Sunday, Phil's real estate agent had shown the house to nine potential buyers, two of whom made offers. As such, Phil plans to leave Pelton's at the end of May, after which he and his wife will retire to their new house in North Carolina.

Now I find out that Dawn, one of the pharmacy technicians, has landed a new job that not only is a hell of a lot closer to her house, but that she also was hired for the same money she has been making at Pelton's. Dawn, too, plans to leave at the end of May.

Needless to say, replacements for Dawn, Hal and Phil will not be hired. Should be interesting to see how much work actually gets done at our store in the weeks to come!

Well, the owner told us our that our store would close some time in May. What the hell did he expect?

3. Happened to me once, but under much more sinister circumstances
I was working a telemarketing job, showed up one day, and the doors were chained shut. All the computers were gone, and there was a notice tacked to the door that the place was shut down by the FBI.

Apparently the owners had been charging credit cards but not sending out the merch.

I called the owner to get my last paycheck, she laughed at me and told me to "get in line" then hung up.

I hope they put her ass in prison :)
