Remember the controversy over Independence Day? A lot of stations wouldn't play it. But it gave her good cross-over appeal.

I have this mad crush on Martina McBride that crosses the border of rationality and even seemliness, I think. And that's not normal for me. I love her voice, I love her song choice, I love her outlook on life, I love the intelligence that exudes from every interview I've heard her do. I even like the way she looks. I've been afraid to listen to any interviews of hers since the Iraqi invasion started so as not to hear her support it, so my poor heart wouldn't be shattered.
Okay, that's irrelevant, but I had to tell someone. Don't spread it around, okay? :-)
She won some awards for the song, I remember, and I think the video got an award, too. Impressive, considering the controversies. You can sing about killing a lot of bad people if you're Toby Keith, but if you are a woman singing about killing one bad man, you get banned. I guess that one got too personal.
