I ate dinner with a giant fork. Your latest absent-minded "d'oh!"?
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 08:30 PM by Bertha Venation
I served up Mrs. V.'s leftover linguine and took it to her w/ a fork & twirly spoon, then served up my own and sat in my chair. With the serving fork. By the time I realized I was forkless, Daddy had assumed his usual dinnertime begging position -- laying across my ankles on the ottoman. So I didn't get up. I ate dinner with a giant fork. Didn't even know my mouth was that big.

Ever look for your keys & find them in the fridge? Fill the cat box with laundry detergent? Driven away from Pizza Hut with the pizza on the roof? What absent-minded things have you done? I know I'm not alone.

1. I lost five jackets in the third grade.
My teacher nicknamed me "The Absent-Minded Professor."

2. I became a professor to justify absentmindedness
Even in academia, though, I'm "out there."

My latest stunt was to walk into someone else's classroom and start teaching their class. I'd distributed handouts and had proceeded into the discussion before someone let me know. The worst part is that a student from one of my other classes happened to be in that classroom. Word does get around, you know.

One of the things I screw up the most is billpaying. I send the checks every which way and mix up the invoices. I overpay, I underpay. Balance a checkbook? Never! It's so boring that my mind just goes numb. I just can't do routine tasks.

3. I can't recall anything specific lately
But I'm so consumed and preoccupied with school that I always marvel at the fact that I manage to arrive at school wearing my pants and having not run anyone over on the way. I'm just waiting for the day when one of those occurs (God forbid!)

5. Left a remote control in my daughter's sleeper as a baby.
No idea how that happened. Just today, I removed the drain pipe under the bathroom sink and then attempted to wash the dirt off my hands. Yes, I am absentminded! :hi:

6. In September
I drove to school and when I got there I realized I'd left my shoes at home. :silly:

I was wearing high heeled boots alot and I couldn't drive while wearing them, so I usually took them off there and the way home.

I thought I had left them in the car from the day before but, when I got to school I realized I'd taken them inside the night before..so I had to drive back home and get them.
