GAS PRICE MONITOR (28 April 2004) |
|
Seeing if there's any interest... track the prices nationwide -- see if it goes up EVERYWHERE when it does, etc. So sure! Post your locale, price, recent history?
$1.799 here, Peoria IL -- DOWN from $1.899 (yesterday)

3. Problem might just be the subject line, which looks dead serious |
|
like it would be at home on the Environment/Energy/Science forum. You might want to go with something like, "What are gas prices like in your town?" and suggest that folks try to keep the thread kicked, permanently if possible. The problem is that unless you're going to keep after it, eventually it drops just 'cause there's nobody who's going to be motivated to keep an eye on your thread as much as you.
Now the problem with the Environment/Energy/Science is that it's very slow and there would be very little feedback. A compromise would be to post it there and post an announcement here that folks interested in maintaining such a thread should hie over there. (Helps if you provide the link of course.)
Just suggestions. As I said at the outset, I think it's a great idea. We're just much more a yaks, beer and kitties type of crowd.

6. .929 cents per litre, Cdn, 3.54 (Ithink) litres per US gallon |
|
Over $3.00 per gallon in Victoria, BC. Which would equal about 2.25 US. Outrageous

8. Some Nevada and California averages, from my 10-day trip |
|
I'm back in Las Vegas, where unleaded is about $2.05 at the cheapest spots like Arco, down several cents from when I departed.
Otherwise:
* $2.60 in Baker, CA * $2.08 in Barstow, CA * $2.19 in Palm Springs, down from $2.25 when I arrived a week earlier * $2.10 in San Diego area * wild variance in the Los Angeles area. I saw a low of $2.03 up to the mid-$2.30s. Like a genius I ran low on the Pacific Coast Highway and had to pay $2.31 at a station next to the old Getty Museum, which still has not reopened after renovations that began in '97.

11. Hang on to your chonies! |

Unleaded gas is trading for $1.2370 for the near term (May) contract. Kids we are not yet in the high demand season. Come summer things will be a lot worse. A month or so ago I predicted that Unleaded will trade around $1.25 to $1.30 a gallon. I now believe that I am going to be way off. The way things stand I now anticipate that unleaded will trade around $1.33 to $1.40 for the August and September contracts. That will translate to $3.00 plus in some areas of the U.S.
