Wow, I've never seen that much police in the city (Berlin)

Almost unsettling: everywhere I go police, police, police. Most in normal uniforms, a few in riot gear, even less with heavy firearms. It is almost impossible to go anywhere without a good reason, whole areas are sealed off. Technically I should feel well protected, but... :scared: .
Too many events these days:
-Zapatero visit
-Powell visit
-Katzav visit
-international Anti-Semitism Conference
-traditional Mayday riots (remind me to park the car in a guarded garage)
-EU enlargement festivities

May Day in London... gonna be so many cops you won't be able to move. Unless it rains, in which case no one will turn out...again.

2. have you ever seen Mayday in Berlin?

Riots with burning cars and barricades, street battles and massive damage to public property. It is not a good day to be in Berlin, even with police from all over the federation helping out.

This year it is *way* more police than usual; snipers on the roofs etc. are definitely not normal.
I've read it's the largest German police operation ever.
