A couple of years back I was a big time ebay seller... I did about 40 grand in one year... It was an amazing experience. But...it was a burn after a while... Why... Scumbag's who wouldn't pay me and when I put a neg on their ass they would retaliate and neg me back. It was maddening. Sometimes, I felt like calling this dirtbags and tell them that they were er dirtbags...but I held back... I don't condone harrassing folks on the phon over a couple of bucks but believe me, I understand it!
Bottom line.... If you don't pay for what you won on Ebay then you deserve a Neg. If you get a Neg for not paying and then retaliate by Negging the seller back, you're nothing more than a scumbag!
BTW: This thread is not a Parody... It's my fucking opinion!

If you're like me, you'd pay $50 for it and it'd sell for $10. LOL.

6. I agree w you 100% - now I got a question for you - free advice. |
|
"That seller was so mean to me" thread was ridiculous - you win, you pay, no matter what. Or face the consequences.
Now sorry to treat you like dear abby, but obviously you have a lot of exper. . .should I neg this seller?
I just bought some used software off a guy on ebay.
The developer of this software allows registration to be transfered to a new owner by current owner. Then elgible for upgrades yadda yadda.
Before bidding, I asked "If I win, will you transfer registration?"
He replied w one line "I never registered the software."
I win. I paypal 10 mins after auction. 14 days later I get package. I write and ask again about registration transfer, as no reg card in package.
He answers "I never registered it because I bought it used on ebay."
I wrote him back explaining again that I was looking for transferable or registerable software, and would not have bid so high if I knew untransferable. I told him I give him benefit of the doubt, but in good faith he should considering doing something to make me happy. 10 days no reply.
Did I assume too much from his one line reply? Do I neg him? Do I just forget about it?
What would trumad do?

8. No wonder the sellers all like me |
|
I pay, like the instant I win an auction. Hey, I want my stuff NOW, I figure they'll ship quicker if I pay right away. Which they do.

13. I agree with one exception: |
|
eBay specifically asks its users to try to work out the payment situation privately BEFORE posting negatives. If a seller posts a negative FIRST, without asking the buyer "hey, asshat, where's my money;" then he deserves to get a negative in return, because he isn't following eBay policy.

Actually, RJD looks like he's aged pretty well (I'm guessing your sig is a recent photo). I haven't seen him since about '83. Frankly, he looks better now!

You can call me a scumbag if you want. That's fine. But I don't like that all you laugh at the fact that I was harassed last night. That's against the law. Me not paying the asshole $2 isn't against the law.
Now who's side are you on?

I sell my art there and enjoy it. I do get the occasional crank, but for the most part I've done well and met some nice people.

23. Don't always go for the neg unless you're absolutely sure |
|
I used neutral for some asshole who never emailed me back to close the sale.
I also negged some chick who must have thought my bid wasn't big enough even though I won the auction. She emailed me back, all apologies and I told her to go get bent, and good luck moving that item because I was telling everyone and anyone what a deceitful pile of crap she is.
I didn't neg this jack-off from Belorus who took my cash and didn't deliver, so I don't buy anything from the former Soviet states, anymore. Damn commies. I just reported his ass to eBay because I knew he was probably up to no good.
On the law of averages, everybody gets burned on eBay at least once. That's how you learn, so it only happens once

24. Enjoyed ebay but started having major problems |
|
I collect vintage jewelry (Trifari, Sarah Coventry, etc.) and found a lot of good buys on ebay. I also bought a antique Chinese horse for my living room and some other odds and ends. Then I started having problems last summer. I went to a convention and didn't have access to a computer. While I was out of town I won an auction and didn't know it. A woman who had a consignment shop in Georgia was selling her inventory and I bid on several outfits. It was for about $100.00. I explained to this person that I was a victim of ID theft and I don't (won't) use credit cards and I would sent her a MO or a PO money order. She said she had never heard of ID theft "it never happens in Stone Mountain" and maybe I could drive up there and pick my stuff up and give her cash. We went back and forth for several more days and she sent a negative on me to ebay.
