Mrs. Foolery wants to know ARE YOU A NORA ROBERTS/JD ROBB FAN? |
|
She's addicted to her books and wants to have everyone that she's ever written.

We were just talking about her at work today. They're perfect mind candy for me, especially the J.D. Robb titles. And what woman wouldn't want to be married to Roark?! I can't remember the butler's name (it's been a while since I read one), but he is probably my favorite character!

3. that's it -- brain candy! |

Perfect description. :) Love my brain candy, in the form of Rita Mae Brown's "Mrs. Murphy Mysteries." Light fluff is great.

2. I read one Roberts-as-Robb and was underwhelmed. |
|
It was a good read, mildly entertaining, interesting. But too much sex for my taste -- and unnecessary sexist crap that a man would throw in just for titillation. Perhaps that's the point of a male (?) nom de plume.
Give me Patricia Cornwell any day.
Please tell Mrs. F. this is in no way a judgment of her taste. To each her own. :toast:

7. Well, half-way through the fourth J.D. Robb |
|
"Rapture In Death" - I have to say it's not one of her better efforts. Lapses more than usually into romance-genre sterotypes, and more gratuitous sex than the other ones I've read so far. Of course, they are "just married" - and I suspect some libido-heightening tech is being used on them as part of the mystery...
Still, it's STILL not as bad as Laurell Hamilton's vampire detective series. I read one of those and got so that I'd just roll my eyes and skip ahead whenever a sex scene started, trying to find where the actual plot picked up again.

8. Was going to respond but... |
|
Bertha just said it all. I kept hoping Robb would lighten up on the Knight in Shining Armor sex as I got through the series (and I got through almost all of it). They are entertaining and easy reading for plane rides and vacations, but Cornwell... she's a master.

At least in her J.D. Robb persona. I "discovered" her when SFBC offered one of her books. I've bought all the ones they've offered (the last three) and started in on the older ones, three at a time. I just got three more today, which brings me up to six of the older ones. I'm not a fan of the romance genre, but I've always liked both detective and science fiction. The "Eve Dallas" series have elements of the romance genre, but I can put up with it because the detective stories are so good, plus I LOVE the character.

6. Yes I have every book she has written under both names |
|
:) She is one author I buy without even reading the synopsis. Tell her to hit Ebay..she can get a bunch at once there cheaper than buying new..or a used book store.
