Tonight's Frontline is making me puke!
:puke:

Not thought provoking enough for GD, but it's my view right now. The whole meld of right wing Christians and global imperialist neocons has been one frightening disaster.

Anyone see this and find all of these religious justifications for current happenings and *'s religious awakening both suspect and disturbing?

1. Yep...

A bunch of "reborn" whackjobs that are trying to make up for their missspent youth by reshaping the world in "God's image"...(ie Israel's image)...

6. Fundamentalists in all forms make the world more dangerous
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 10:17 PM by SarahBelle
There are so many differences in beliefs, but we are all humans with essentially the same basic wants, needs, etc. Great leaders are the ones that can bridge the differences, not cause further divisiveness. Not being able to understand the human element within those who are different leads to justification of violence against them and then it becomes cyclical in nature. The world in one sense is much more complex than they seem to understand, but on another level, my almost three year old understands the concept of manners, not hitting, taking turns, and sharing what you have. It seems like our world leaders could use many of these pre-school level lesons at times.

3. Where I live, this Frontline is considered so important
that they're airing it at 2:00 a.m. tonight. But that's what VCRs are for...

5. I've heard that about certain places
They hide shows like Frontline or Now in the wee hours of the night. It's that damned liberal media again. Watch out! :scared:

8. Me too!
We thought we found a rather liberal Christian church we could be content with three years ago, but it's becoming increasingly clear, it's heading right (which is all wrong).
Beginning soon, it's the Unitarian Universalists for good.

10. Till now I thought Smirky was just another dumb redneck.
After seeing this tonight my impression is that he is one scary son of a bitch. I wonder if the other world leaders know that he thinks they are "heathens" for not being fundies like him?

and the Frontline piece was a puffy poof piece too
one or two counterpoints... one or two criticisms... the rest a detailed history of his work for evangelicals, with an ample helping of "hoorah, ain't he great...." from a bunch of evangelicals....

Sheesh.

Enough to put me off PBS for good.

12. That was really scary, wasn't it?
:scared:

Extemism in any form is frightening. I also really resent having religion shoved down my throat.
