My dad lost his job yesterday:(
After more than 30 years of working for the same company. He is about to have a mental breakdown. He voted for Shrub because he thought it would allow him to keep his job. I told him otherwise. Bush is no friend to anyone but the CEO's of america. Needless to say, he is voting for Kerry this year. I hope he finds a new job soon, I really do. He needs to stay active. This job required travel and he liked that. Maybe it will be for the best though...he was getting tired of it. I hope something comes along soon.

What I do know is, that my dad is not the only Shrub voter to loose his job and change his mind. Unemployment is so high these days, that if every person who lost a job, or knew someone who lost a job voted for JK, it would be a landslide.

He worked in corporate banking in Oklahoma. Not the enron type, but farm loans and agriculture.

4. i lost my job - was out for 9 months - then got another one
it's extremely difficult, i know this all too well. Things will work out though, it has happened for a reason. Tell him to keep his head up. Make sure you don't let him slide through the cracks, because its easy to do when you lose your job. SO much of your identity you formulate around your career, when you lose your job you lose your identity in many ways - so he'll need people to look after him from time to time.

6. Just to let you know.
In Oregon you can go to a few classes run by the unemployment department. And they give you three thousand for training in a new field. My Friend did this to get through bar-tending school (it was 1500 dollars). Lots of other options were available.

I know that's not great, but it could be something to look into.

I wish your dad the best of luck..

7. Sorry to hear this, sannum.
Not easy times. Give your dad a big hug -(if that's something that your family does)

perhaps other people at his old place of employment might be interested in checking out kerry as an alternative to shrub. I mean, if it can happen to an employee of 30+ years, no one should feel secure...
