I am still creeped out by a nightmare!!

Does anyone remember the movie reanimator from the 80's?

Well I dreamed I reanimated Sebastian Catbutt. He stood up and a back leg fell off. Kept having seizures, and on and on.

How could I dream something like that?

1. Didn't you just get a couple of new kittens?
Maybe it's guilt.

5. Then it's pretty simple
SC was a big part of your life for many years. Now that he's gone, you feel - deep down inside - that these new kittens are, in a way, taking his place. For that, you feel guilty. I'd say don't worry about it for now. If you continue to have dreams like this, perhaps a little soul cleansing would be in order.

3. I still dream about reanimated pets from my childhood.
I'm always amazed that they're still going even after they're dead. That's dream logic for you.

4. Is it possible your mind is trying to convince your heart
that what it desires is just not possible?

You know where I stand on the question of messages from beyond, Denman. I leave a lot of ground open to possibilities. But, friend, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

The mind will work just as hard to heal the heart as the heart will work to heal the mind.

Talk to him. Thank him and tell him about the new cats. Your heart will heal but here will be days of relapse. I still miss ol Smudge and wake up crying once in awhile even after 5 years. The big hound licks my tears, but they still come. Tis OK.

6. Oh I'm so sorry!
:hug:What a scary nightmare! Go hug your kitties and be healed!:D

BTW - we've been mistakenly calling Papa "Chester" all the time in our house. They have so much in common, only Papa is younger and healthier. I know Chester would approve of him.

Hope you're doing well, other than this!

7. Thanks for the support everyone
It was just so scary seeing the cattbutt like that. I did it by injecting a cardiac drug into him.

BTW- Squeaky and Mo own the place now. they are a riot

8. oh, no
It's no secret you're missing him terribly. I'm sorry you had such a scary dream, though.

When you go home tonight give your new kitties lots of loving, and tell them all about the Catbutt.

9. You miss him
And you wish you could bring hm back but you know that you can't. It's a normal part of grieving I'd imagine.

Some of it may be guilt over the new kitties...maybe you feel like you're using them to try to replace Catbutt (to bring him back) but you know that isn't how it works (i.e. the legs falling off).

It's ok to miss him. And it's ok to find new kitties to love. Love is not a zero-sum game. Loving the new kitties doesn't mean you miss/love Catbutt one bit less.

I figure you already know all this. At least in your head. It's the heart that takes a while to work things out.

10. This just reminded me of a nightmare my husband had
He dreamed that Papa died in some kind of accident (he doesn't remember the details). The weird thing was, the woman who plays Lane's mom on Gilmore Girls was somehow responsible (he had the dream Tuesday night). He woke up screaming from it and I had to calm him down - weird.:scared:
