12. The person who showed it to me said it was the best one....
...and howled with laughter all through it. This convinced me of two things:

1. I'm not a "Seinfeld" person, and
2. Maybe I have one too many friends.

18. She annoys me too....
She seems so full of herself.
I much preferred the former host of TS.

And isn't she annoying the way she just goes from house to house the entire show screaming....."Hurry up! Hurry up! Get a move on! Don't you know what time it is? How much money did you spend on that?!! FRANK!!!???????"

Maybe if she helped out from time to time instead of doing nothing but whining the whole show the teams wouldn't be running late!

She's a pain.

:grr:

24. From someone who works in TV...
I cannot understand "Seinfeld." And I can't understand Jerry Seinfeld.

I have seen many comedians in my life, many kinds of comedy. But I have never found anything very funny about Seinfeld, not even his dalliances with Superman in commercials for American Express. Why Kal-El would hang around with such a bland, unsociable jerk can only be explained by one thing; Seinfeld is made of lead, and Supes keeps him around in case he needs a handy shield against kryptonite.

And "Friends?" I could hear more interesting conversations by planting a microphone in a bowling alley during League Night.

Speaking of drunken bums, I have seen the episodes of "Cheers" because one of the stations I work for runs it. But I never saw it in its network run. Who cares whether Diane and Sam slept together? They were both jerks. The possibility of them breeding the next generation of jerks was depressing.

28. I often let syndication decide for me...
I don't watch a lot of network TV so often I don't catch things the first time around, Law And Order being a notable exception. Two of my favorite shows of all time are Northern Exposure and Picket Fences, neither of which I saw first run. So the answer is I have never watched MOST of the popular shows.

That's about it. Network TV is geared down to the least common denominator in my snotty, elitist liberal opinion. ::7

30. Shows I never watched
Seinfeld, Survivor, any reality tv show, COPs, virtually every sit-com since MASH went off the air, Dynasty, Dallas, etc. I will confess to watching Trading Rooms on BBC America however. I prefer to read, when my 22 month old Rugus Ratus Sino-Americanus goes down for her nap or to bed at night that is.

Years ago when Dallas was still on in prime-time, during the "who shot JR" period, I walked into the local candy/ice cream parlor/news store to find a bunch of the customers discussing who shot JR. I,not being up on such things, asked if there had been an assassination and if so, who had been killed. They thought it was amusing. I was floored that they could care so passionately about a fictional tv character. Later, as it turned out on the night all would be revealed, I flew down to Virginia Beach to visit a friend. She picked me up at the airport, practically threw me in the car and peeled rubber to get home in time for the show. Since I had no idea who the characters were, who was or was not sleeping with who and all the various plot twists and turns, it was a very boring couple of hours. This was the same friend who had a major crush on Jack Lord in Hawaii 5-0 and would schedule things around its running.

38. avoid all of that reality crap like the plague
tend now to watch PBS or movies. Or hang out here!

However, I do like West Wing and Gilmore Girls is a guilty pleasure. I am a sucker for sparky, smart dialogue. I have rewound the tape of West Wings on numerous occasions to catch the snappy dialogue, reminds me of the witty and fast dialogue in 40s CAry Grant movies.

And I do confess a great love for early X-files. I loved those.

36. No reality shows
The networks just put them on because they are so cheap to produce. No writers, no sets, no actors demanding high salaries. The first wave was the proliferation of news shows. A spin-off of "60 Minutes," "48 Hours," Connie Chung's ""Eye to Eye" and "Face to Face," "20-20," numerous "Datelines." But these were at least, often, informative. The reality shows are just a waste of air time, IMHO. I used to work with the commercial networks, so know what they are trying to do, save money. And I admit to watching some sitcoms. Some are pretty well-done.:-)

40. Proudly rejecting any and all reality television.
Then there's also:

Road Rules.
CSI.
NYPD Blue.
Melrose Place.
90210
Dawson's Creek.
American Idol (reality or reek-ality?)
Regis and Whoever.
Maury, Sally, or any show featuring a first name as a title.

I did watch enough of an episode of STD and the City to know that a gay writer's fantasy of what women say and do was not worth my time.

E Hollywood True Story (they are doing one of these now on Laci Peterson. Laci Peterson. A dead, unknown pregnant housewife. How long can it be until there is an E Hollywood True Story on you, or your uncle Bill?)

The Rush Limbaugh TV Show, which I believe had to be presented in Widescreen long before the advent of HDTV. At least it wasn't scratch n' sniff.

44. I'm going to answer a bit differently.
These are the popular shows that I _have_ watched:

Ally McBeal (Don't know if it's even on anymore, though)
Friends (about three episodes, mind you)
Seinfeld (one or two episodes)
Sex and the City (used to watch regularly, not anymore)
Will and Grace (used to watch regularly, not anymore)

I've never seen a single episode of any of the reality TV shows, except for some of the original European versions--for instance, I've seen Big Brother in Dutch. Oh, and I once had the misfortune of seeing about half of Survivor. Ugh. And it sounds like there are loads of even worse ones out there right now. Sadly, this also means I've never seen the West Wing or the Daily show, but overall I'm so bloody glad that my TV gets no channels at all...I f*^&ing hate TV. :argh: (I'm imagining that the smiley is throwing a TV rather than a computer, BTW.)

Honestly, the only one I feel like I've truly "missed" has been Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I could certainly do without the Sopranos (Sopranos fans are nothing more than Dynasty fans with a violent streak anyway...)

I did just conclude watching my first reality show, Sci FI channel's Mad, Mad House. It was pretty lame actually, but I got hooked.

And finally, I've never seen a full episode of any CSI show. I even find the promos irritating. Instant switch-off when it comes on (as if I'd be watching CBS anyway.)
