...in feeling sort of hopeless about the November election and the way things in the US are in general?

What with Buscho's PR and marketing to convince the dull-witted they are in the right, or even that Dubya is God's annointed son; the very real possibility that Ashcroft, Roveco, et al., could manipulate any results so that it would appear Bushco wins regardless; the conspiracy theory that suggests they might cancel the November elections anyway; and yesterday's Reagan thread putting the current presidency in a much larger context of long-term neo-con corruption and swindling, I don't know why I bother getting up in the morning. Will there soon be global anarchy created by peak oil, war/terrorism, and economic crisis?

I feel so powerless.

1. You're not powerless, Bear. Not by a longshot.

Especially when you consider that you're joined by over half of the voting public. One single voice in a crowd makes that crowd louder and stronger. Remember, it's about "We The People".

Lovely words, those. We The People.

You're just having an episode right now that all of us are familiar with. Burnout and the resulting hopelessness. Take a break for a while, and come back louder and stronger. Turn off the TV and the computer for the weekend, read a good book, and go to a park or something.

You are NOT alone. The existance of this board and many others that echo the same liberal themes prove that there are MANY people who share your point of view. The melancholy you feel is a direct result of the right wing propaganda machine, which was bought up by the establishment corporations with the idea to so saturate the PUBLIC airwaves with their point of view, so that we the liberal americans would believe that their point of view was held by most if not all americans. "How dare you", they say, "believe something different than everybody else?" The TRUTH is, my friend, that they are a MINORITY. We have been silenced and forced UNDERGROUND. Do yourself a favor and read Michael Moore's book, "Dude, Where's My Country", and DON'T BUY THEIR BULLSHIT!

4. You are certainly not alone...

I'm scared to death that they will steal the election (they already did it once)...BUT, there's always hope...the BBV folks on this board have done an amazing job of getting the Touch Screen info out into the mainstream media, and the bottom line is that most people are sick to death of Chimpy & pals...polls be damned (my personal feeling is that most of the polls are by right wing organizations who are trying to keep the numbers close so that Diebold & their ilk will have an easier time if they try to steal the election).

I'm personally thankful to DU...I felt so alone in my views before I found this (early 2002), but now I know I'm not in it alone...we can prevail, I feel it!!!
