Friend Allegedly Shops Instead Of Paying Soldier's Bills

A local soldier returned home from Iraq to find out a trusted friend used his money for a five-month shopping spree, NewsChannel5 reported.

Sgt. Todd Graham, 40, of Harrisville Township in Medina County, spent 17 years in the National Guard.


He signed over his power of attorney to friend Laura Cristell, 45, before he went overseas last year.


But instead of paying his bills while he was serving in Baghdad, she spent $13,000 of his money on what she told police was a shopping problem.


If convicted, Cristell will face prison time for theft.
