Anyone have the squat attachment for their Bowflex?
Hiya everyone!

I've got a Bowflex and I love it, though it hasn't made me HUGE.

I hate doing squats, but I figured maybe the ol squat attachment would help encourage me. Anyone out there have one and like or dislike it?

1. I own one of the Original Bow Flex's,`
The most recent attachment it has now, is a new layer of dust. Though I used it for years, I never bulked up, I did not mind ,I just really enjoyed using the Machine.

2. I've had mine for almost 2 years...
I used it off and on for maybe a year, but then have used it pretty much on for the last year. It's a very nice machine, I think. It certainly makes me feel a lot healthier.

I'd definitely rank it as one of the better weird purchases I've made.

I'm really, actually surprised, though, that it's not gaining dust.

3. We have a Power Pro

It has the lat tower, leg attachment and squat attachment, which we just got. I have been the first one to use it, since we are in the process of quitting a local gym. We added this to try to round the machine out.

It works well. The only problem I can foresee, is that when you put a heavier weight on it, I don't know of an easy way to get the bar up to and down from your shoulders. I did stumble onto a trick that was helpful to me, though. When you take off the large seat back, move the sliding seat back a bit and latch it, so that it is out of your way when you squat, but you can sit down on it in order to get out from under the bar, or lift it up. I am still working on that, it may be that I am not doing this right. (It could be that I am not using enough of the chain length, though).

It comes with a chain to adjust for height, and to use as a flat bench press. It works fantastic for straight leg deadlifts, helping to fix your position well, so you can concentrate on lifting, instead of trying to fiddle with your form for fear of hurting your back.

6. I think I have the Ultimate
which sounds like the same as you. Lat tower and leg doohickey.

Thanks for the info on the squat attachment. I had the same problem you mention with the regular squat setup. Hmmmmm...

It feels so weird going to the gym and lifting real weights after using a Bowflex for a long time. It's a totally different deal.

Thanks again!

4. I'd recommend...
... just using a bar, Olympic or otherwise with the appropriate weight. I hate squats (who doesn't :)) but can manage a few sets a week using free weights.

As for looking like the guys in the commercials, that takes 3 things.

1) Genetics 2) Steroids and 3) Lots of time pumping

5. You can get a cage or a rack for squats
to use with a bar, if you really love doing them, and need something to help spot you. My husband found plans for making one out of 4x4s, and some pipe, since they are rather expensive. He has decided that he really needs to work on his legs, so this may be a better way to go about squats if you like to go heavy.

I don't care for squats either, would much rather do a press anyday!
