Group Told To Stop Advertising "Gay Day At Dollywood"
<snip>

The Dollywood theme park has asked a gay and lesbian group to immediately stop advertising ''Gay Day at Dollywood'' for an upcoming event that attracted about 1,000 gays and lesbians, mainly from Tennessee, last year.

The Dollywood attorney's letter, paraphrased and forwarded by activists to fellow gays and lesbians via e-mail around the state and nationwide, has sparked anger.

''What are we supposed to say, 'I'm going to the theme park run by the woman with the big breasts?' '' asked Belle Meade resident Michael Romanello, 56. Romanello says he sent out about 200 e-mails to friends on the East Coast yesterday urging them to head to Pigeon Forge for the May 22 event in a gesture of defiance.

1. Okay, help me out here - so Dolly Parton decides to call it Dollywood
and then sends the lawyers out after anyone who refers to it as Dollywood, claiming copyright violation.

So what the hell do we call it? Why give something a name, but then not allow anyone to use it? How stupidis that? No, really, how stupid is that?

Is Skinner gonna do this with democraticunderground?

Can I do it with my name?

How about if McDonalds did it?

2. This is Country "Music". Not the most progressive people around.
As a matter of fact, they are quite reactionary.

I say let's Ban Country "Music". They are a frightning bunch.

Johnny Cash, his entire family, Steve Earle, and Willie Nelson are excluded from this group. They are the FEW good things Country has to offer.

4. Dixie Chicks and KD Lang (if you'd call her country nowadays)
They're exceptions too.

5. I could be wrong, but I thought I heard that Dolly Parton sold out of
Dollywood several years ago?
