We're not planting too much here in colder upstate (LIBERAL!) New York...
But you might be surprised by who you will meet if you do volunteer work for a candidate, voter registration (although they may be a bit (ahem! younger than you), voter verifiable machines, gosh, with the shrub in the White House there is so much to be active about. Go to political things. They are your soul mates!
