Drawing heavily on Looney Tunes for this one, too, of course. Zounds doesn't really qualify (being a contraction for "Jesus' wounds") but I love it so that I had to put it on.:)

When I was in a non-swearing phase I would always say "Mother of the Earth" instead of Mother fucker. Why I picked that I don't know.
Why I was in a non-swearing phase-I don't know why to that either.

I taught my kids that the very worst cussword of them all was the R word.
You know...*whispering*..."Reagan."
This led to a series of very funny portmanteau swearwords emanating from the bathroom one night while Riley was "practicing swearing in he tub." (His explanation; I don't know why he had to practice.)
I heard him say, "Nut-piss! Shit-dick! REAGAN-FUCK!" It was all I could do not to burst out laughing.

And also 'balls.' Or, sometimes, 'beans,' which is what my dear mother replaced 'balls' with until we were old enough she didn't think anybody would think she was a terrible mother if we slipped up and said it aloud in front of anybody.
Although, I admit to occasionally saying 'poop' if I'm in company too polite to say 'shit' -- a carryover from when my brother and I were kids, and it was one of the dirtiest words we could get by with. We said it a lot. So much, in fact, sometimes we'd get switched on the back of the legs for sheer volume, even though it was an acceptable epithet in the household in lower quantities.

59. even words like joojooflop, swut, and turlingdrome |
|
are now perfectly acceptable in common usage there is one word that is still beyond the pale. The concept it embodies is so revolting that the publication or broadcast of the word is utterly forbidden in all parts of the galaxy except one where they don't know what it means. That word is 'belgium' and it is only ever used by loose-tongued people like Zaphod Beeblebrox in situations of dire provocation.
