Cicada Killer Thread
These boogers have been flying down my chimney lately. The poor babies must see the hole and think they've found the motherlode!

is a species of wasp that preys on the cicadas themselves.

I've seen them dragging katydids into burrows.

Too bizarre!

I've been capturing them in my son's butterfly net and releasing them outdoors.

Just being a smartass...couldn't resist.
I expect you'll see a lot of them this summer, since this is THE summer for cicadas. They'll drive you batty by the end of the summer.
