1. You know...if you take the nicorette gum and only chew it a couple times
Edited on Sat May-29-04 12:10 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
then park it in the back of your mouth rather than chew it...it is more effective (just as a head's up) Good luck to you.

3. Ya gotta stick at it
It's tough to do but well worth it in the long run.

I'm six years smoke free and at the start it was painful but I got through it and well you know, time does fly.

Hang in there. It's so well worth it. :) :yourock:

7. Hang in there

You can do this. Just think of all the money you won't be giving to the lying scum who run tobacco companies!

Editted to add this tip: Time your cravings. You'll find they don't last very long. Then, time the interval between cravings. You'll see it getting longer and longer with every day. You can measure your progress that way.

8. Good job fellow quitter!
I'm about 8 months smoke free which is my most successful quit yet.. Still on the nic-lozenges. I've read that nicotine isn't really all that unhealthy as long as it's not delivered in tobacco smoke.

Keep it up, and if you feel like smoking go buy some patches or gum instead of cigs.

9. After Three Days...
the physical withdrawal ENDS. You body ceases to crave cigarettes.

From that point on it's your MIND that wants a cigarette. It's the "habit" of smoking you have to fight. It's the mental association of the "reward" your body receives from lighting up a cigarette.

You can do it. I did.

I was TWO PACKS A DAY and I quit two years ago (come June). The patch really helped me though. --- The patch is supposed to be an 8 week program, but when I started to forget to put on a fresh patch in the morning... I knew I didn't need them any more.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

-- Allen

P.S. Add up your weekly savings and spend it on something outrageous. Just to reward yourself. You don't have to waste the savings on frivolous rewards forever... just for a few weeks to remind yourself how much you WASTED on cigarettes.

12. Almost a year for me
No patches or gum or anything, after 32 years smoking.

My wife's been battling a life-threatening medical condition all month and I still haven't gone back, although I've come close.

13. GO YOU!
You can do it! Remember quitting smoking is easy, you just have to never smoke again, that's all.
And if it's any help, the patch helped me quit.
