Did you know on roads in Australia Planes have right of way over cars

Don't know where this is but it brought to mind the fact that there are road signs in Oz warning that planes are to always be given right of way.

March 5, 2000: You're not even safe on the ground. In what the airline described as its “worst Incident ever”, a Southwest plane carrying 142 people overshot the runway at Burbank airport, smashed through the perimeter fence, slammed at least two cars on the six-lane Hollywood Way and finally came to rest at a Chevron gas station. This is not the usual practice for aircraft wishing to refuel. Astonishingly, no-one was seriously hurt. Investigators believe the Boeing 737 came in twice as steeply, and 50mph faster, than recommended. Said a ranking local police officer: “We are really lucky a lot of people were not travelling on that road, because those planes are a lot bigger than cars.” With those powers of detection, no wonder he's the boss.

3. Wasn't that one of the reasons for the interstate highway system

and why it can't have bends that are too sharp - because planes have to be able to land on it in case the Russians invade.

4. Not sure on the curves but the overpasses are 13'6 min For ICBMs

loaded on Trucks can pass under them. That was on Jeapordy a year or two ago.

6. I think the bending part is so that cars can go fast

and likely also some of the top heavy military vehicles (like the aforementioned ICBMs on trailers), without having to slow down for the turns so that traffic will always be flowing. Or at least it was always flowing until the '90s, when we ran out of room on them. :-)

Though I'm sure there was also some provision to make sure that there are enough straight areas all over that a plane could land on it if it had to.

Though the real impetus for the interstate was, indeed, as an emergency system usable by the military in case of emergency.

The upshot of the interstate, of course, was COMMERCE, and people now able to drive all over the country. Really helped get people to the national parks, epsecially Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. Big help for Disney World and Disney Land. And big help in making out of season produce available all over, and, of course, an entire onslaught of negative repercussions: the near end of mass transit, drastic reduction in rail being used to ship goods, the homogenization of foods (starting with McD, opening all over at interstate off/on ramps, and then followed by more), blah blah blah.

As an off topic, did you know that McDonalds is not, in essence, really a food company? It's a real estate company.
