My cat. China.... hit by car. DOA, broken neck

26. Sorry To Hear About Your Cat China.

I was just petting my dog Buddy when I read your post.
I can't have cats anymore because my dog loses his mind when they're around, but I miss them a lot nonetheless. Cats have a spirit about them that even a dog can not often match. Our condolences to you WannaJumpMyScooter.

28. Too late to edit. Here is a picture of her and her sister when they

were kittens... 1998 summer or so.



and here is her casket. we are standing by waiting for the kids grief in the morning. I am not sure how to proceed on this. New one on me.




The only good out of this was that she died instantly. She never even knew what hit her. I was in the garage, heard the thud and screech, and then the woman who was driving screaming in horror. China looked like she was asleep. She was still warm, and her fur was so very soft. No blood, broken neck.
This is going to be tough. The kids still think her sister will come back. She went missing last Fall, some may remember.

I had never lost a cat like this, now 2 in less than a year?

That's why I have never been able to let any pet of mine outside.. The dogs were even in a fenced in yard...and one managed to get out and the one and ONLY time we ever had a dog get out, Blanca was hit and killed by a car..:cry:..

It really made me angry too, because I have directed traffic in the rain to save an animal..I have been scratched and bitten , but have always managed to save the critter...and the ONE STINKING time that MY pet needed help, there was no one there for her.. :cry::cry:

54. UPDATE.... funeral held, cat buried, kids are, well, understanding

at least.
We buried her in the backyard in an area we were considering for a meditation garden anyway, so maybe she will be the impetus to get moving on that.

Kids buried a can of cat food, some catnip, a couple of pictures of them and her and some kind of note for God.

We blared China Cat Sunflower by the Grateful Dead a few times... enough to annoy the cat-hating neighbor, and filled in the dirt. I will make a suitable marker when I get around to it.

Poor little cat. Poor baby. My condolences to you and to your kids. I feel sorry for the woman that hit her, too; it sounds as if she truly regretted it happening. At least she wasn't one of the jerks that will just hit an animal and keep going.

When you get your kids another kitten, please consider making an inside kitty out of it. My cats have never been outside, and they've no interest in going out. Their lives indoors are as safe as I can make them, and they have plenty to occupy themselves.
