Would someone take me out back and shoot me??? Please??? |
|
My head hurts so fucking bad, I can't take it anymore. I have an appointment tomorrow morning at the Pain Clinic, but that doesn't do me an ounce of good right now. My neurologist doesn't want me taking triptans more than 4 days a week and doesn't want me to take any pain relievers if I can stand it (concerns of rebound headache).
I am supposed to be at work in 45 minutes, not even dressed yet, and the drive is 50 minutes. I am using all of my vacation days being sick. I can't lay down and I can't stay up, my kingdom for some kind of relief. Heroin, morphine, decapitation??

1. Since I had not takers on the whole shooting thing |
|
I guess I will hop in the shower and then get my sorry butt to work, only to sit there. They expect me to use my brain there, but it is temporarily out of service. Not even on roaming.

I'm sorry.
I had a roommate in college who suffered from migraines, and I never felt sorrier for anybody in my life.

4. I suggest a hot shower and caffeine. |
|
I get migraines and sometimes the heat and caffeine works! Can you at least take excedrin? That works better with caffeine, coke or coffee.

5. Nobody else understands the PAIN. |
|
The screaming, scorching PAIN of these headaches is such that one is alone in the Universe--there is nothing else but the PAIN.
It took something like three times the recommended levels of Imitrex and/or Frova to get me through a series of headaches like this back in October/November. And I am living yet.
One gets to a place where the doctors can go right to hell with their recommendations; these headaches are the most serious business on Earth and nothing matters but relief. Side effects be damned.
You sure as hell don't need to be out in traffic in this condition, LosinIt. Lose the vacation days and don't give it a second thought, I says. I KNOW where you are right now; if I could stop the torture, I surely would!!!
This WILL pass.

6. Shooting and decapitation seem a little extreme, |
|
but I feel for you. I was a migraine sufferer for a few years, (thankfully haven't had any for about two) no one can be expected to function normally in severe pain. You said, "neurologist doesn't want me taking triptans more than 4 days a week and doesn't want me to take any pain relievers if I can stand it (concerns of rebound headache)." If it gets too bad, take something for it. Whatever gets you through the day, right? Hope you feel better soon.

7. God, I'm so sorry. My sister has suffered for years with migraines. |
|
Pain is so undertreated and misunderstood. Keep looking for a doctor who is not afraid to treat the pain. It is such a stain on the body.

I bit the bullet and am at work, only because I promised to have something out to a customer this morning. I doubt I will make it much past lunch. I took a hot shower and put the shower massage on the back of my neck which helped for awhile. On my second cup of coffee.
The pain clinic is only an eval for tomorrow, my neurologist suggested an occipital nerve block. He said that most headaches are not purebred migraine or tension, usually a hybrid of the two. Sometimes the ONB helps with migraines also and they don't know why.
Well, let me get the files up on the server for the guy as promised and then I can consider giving in to it. Once again, thanks.

I'll put you on my prayer list. I've only had two instances of extreme pain in my life, one chronic, one acute, and have survived both, so I cannot say I know what extreme head pain is like, but from what I remember of my own circumstances (spinal injury) it is horrendous.
You have my sincere wishes for success with the occipital nerve block! I'll be thinking of you, tomorrow.

10. Hang in there, LosinIt. I know that the pain can make you crazy... |
|
For years I suffered from cervical root syndrome (pinched nerves in the neck, causing severe headaches, etc.), and I understand those horrible times when pain is **all** there is -- you can't distract yourself in any way from it.
Get the proper medical attention you deserve and require. This acute episode will pass, and you can learn to manage the pain pretty well --it is possible.
Take it as easy as you can --
