PISTONS WIN! Off to conquer the LALEE! |
|
The Los Angeles Lakers Evil Empire is going down!
As they are about to find out (and as the Dang Yankees will find out in a few months), money don't mean a thing in sports.
Gary, Karl, Kobe, and Shaq are going down at the mercy of Tayshawn, Rasheed, Rip, Ben, and Chauncey!
We have a sexy governor, while California has the third-worst governor of the relatively young century. (The other two are brothers, one of whom thinks he was elected President.)
Phil Jackson has won way too many NBA titles. Larry Brown will win one now!

...if the Lakers win this one, Phil Jackson will have more NBA titles than any other coach in the history of the NBA.
I, for one, want that for him.
Let the best team win.

...they let members start threads about these things on DU. I'll be looking forward to logging on while the series is on and crowing a bit.
The Lakers aren't my first choice, but since they are there, I'm backing them. I would've preferred the Spurs.

4. Arrrrghhh.... so it begins..... |
|
we have to hear all the reasons it would be so great if the Lakers won. Jackson, Payton, Malone, you name it, someone will whine, "well, normally I wouldn't root for the Lakers, but.... (insert dumb reason.)" I have a friend who's a Yankees' fan and every year it's something. First, they needed to win the World Series because they "never win" (??) Next, they had to be in it because there needed to be a subway series. Then it was because of September 11th. Now it's because her boys are just old enough to be fans, blah blah blah, it never ends.
GO PISTONS!!!!

13. Your reason is just that they are in the finals |
|
and they're not San Antonio? What kind of a cockeyed reason is that?

15. rooting for the eventual winner will never end... |
|
He has a right to root for whomever he wants if his team is out. A lot of people are pulling for Malone and Payton to finally get a ring and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I don't find that odd for someone whose own team is no longer in the running.
I've been a Laker fan for about 35 years.. there are a lot of us that have ridden the roller coaster and if someone wants to hop on with us then so be it.
Go Lakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. A mourning Pacer fan wishes the Pistons luck! |

Well, even as the sting of being "out" is settling in, I'm still going to wish the Pistons good luck! For me, it's "anybody but the Lakers", just like Bush! LOL

A rematch of sorts. I'm still heartbroken. However, after the injuries to O'Neil and Tinsley, I think the Pistons have the better chance this time around! I just wish that Reggie would get his ring FINALLY!
The Pacers are a young team (not counting Reggie) and will definately be back next year!

Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace are not interesting? The NBA team that set the year's attendance record isn't interesting? Rip Hamilton isn't interesting?
How about hoping Larry Brown finally gets his ring?
The Pistons have been a fabulous comeback story. Joe Dumars is the epitome of a smart, savvy, and talented front office guy. He's made so many smart moves, trades, etc. and built this team back into a contender. That's interesting.
Go Pistons! Defense rules!

19. Why? Well, let me tell ya |
|
Because, I grew up a Pacer fan in Indiana...that's why! LOL Loved Larry Brown while he was in Indy, meant no disrespect. I also grew up watching Isiah play for your Pistons after playing for Coach Knight. I don't have anything against the Pistons and will be cheering for them, just wanted it to be MY guys there, ya know?
Reggie has been through many challenges in his life and been a loyal Pacer even when they were the nobodys in the league. I just wanted him to get his ring. Sigh...there's always next year...just like my Colts.
Never said it wouldn't be interesting...by the way, a good point when talking about the 11 points in one quarter is that the East is about DEFENSE. The Pacer-Piston match up was arguably the 2 best defenses in the league gutting it out. It was ugly but certainly NOT boring.
While I can't (in my depression after my Pacers got beat) say GO Pistons, I will be saying GO EASTERN Conference. Is that alright for now? That's about all I can muster for the first couple of games!
