3. Death is generally defined by brain function
The heart can be beating, but the brain can be dead, and you could be declared dead.

6. Wizard. I think you want a statistican
The best I can do with this answer..Is human population growth is almost linear...For the first 6 million years of human existance, human population hardly ever got over 5 million persons..When humans evolved to agriculture, human population festered to like 50,000,000. Population never got over one billion souls until like 1900..After penicilin it really took off.
Since 1940 it has grown from like 3.5 billion to near 7 billion.
So, how many souls...Probably more now die in a day, than maybe all souls than existed for half of our existence..
Just a guess...So many factors..How many souls at any given time and what is their life expectancy..

9. I remember an estimate
in the early 70's that 100 billion humans had lived since we became "Human". It is a very difficult calculation with many unknowns. Another huge unknown is how many humans lived in the Western Hemisphere in 1492.
