plus user names (and the many more who check out DU forums, who never register), just kind of slowly fade away? Into a skeleton of the site, it is now? Perhaps, until the next republican administration takes power?
Which hopefully will be never, but realistically, the way "fence-sitters" moderates, go back & forth and actually vote for a fucking republican, it will happen soon enough.
I think there will be a need for DU on many future issues as well as the inevitable republican lies, distortions and smears directed at Democrats, (ala, President Clinton).

After all, those assholes at freerepublic seem to have a lot to talk about even though they've gotten their way for the last 4 years.

A similar thread once appeared in ATA. Skinner said it was here to stay, as long as people still like it.

DU will stay long after * is gone. Besides, if we fold up our tent and let our netroots die on the grapevine, then President Kerry would be a sitting duck in the face of Repuke attacks a la Clinton.

4. No, if anything, if Kerry wins, he'll need activists on his side |

Also, I believe the far right wing will try to secede or something.

We have a mission people. We fell down on the job back in 1993. We got Clinton elected and then too many of us checked out thinking that was all we needed to do. Without us he got clobbered by the right-wing nut-jobs.
We have to do better this time. We have to hold our guy up against the repubs when necessary and kick him in the ass to do the right thing the rest of the time.

We need to be here to keep Kerry on the right track, after all.
And, until the Republican Party is as much a part of the past as the Whigs or the Bullmoose Party, we need to do everything in our power to destroy it.
