Is there any way (short of fabricating something myself) of mounting two 2.5" laptop drives side-by-side in a 5.25" drive bay?
Edit: just to clarify: I mean a pair of laptop HARD drives that are 2.5" wide.

Because it's 3.5", not 2.5". Not to mention that's the disk size, not the drive size

where do you get a 2.5" floppy drive? All the ones I've seen are either 3.5" or 5.25".
And why would you WANT 2, anyway? Ditch the floppy and put a CD-RW or CD/DVD-RW in the 5.25 bay instead.
EDIT: SHould read more closely. Or maybe get more sleep. (Sleep deprivation is FUN...huzzah)...LAPTOP drive, not floppy. (smacks self)

Check out this Belkin part: F2N511
It's a kit that allows you to hook up a 2.5" drive to a standard PC IDE connector. (I use it all the time for ghosting laptop drives.) It includes mounting brackets to put the drive into a 3.5" bay. Maybe those can be used to jury-rig something together for your purposes?

6. I did something similar with my old Compaq |

If there's space and duct tape, you may be able to do this. I installed a second drive, and there was no natural place to do it.
Just put something in between the two drives (I have mine stacked). And make sure you have a patch cable. Set one as a 'slave' drive.
Yes, you do have to do a little fabricating. Not too difficult, though. Mine is the ultimate in 'jerry-rigging'.
