..except there wasn't any SHIRT, either...dammit!

That's the last Debby Boone thread I'm EVER clicking on, and I mean business.

5. LOL!
She HAD no other hit songs, and I finally got so sick of this one (it was on the radio and even TV fifty million times a day for months) that I run screaming for the door every time I hear it now!

I remember about a year after it came out, when I was 11 or so, someone asked a gossip columnist why that "wonderful fresh, wholesome new singer Debby Boone didn't have her own variety show." Without missing a beat, the columnist asked, "but what the hell would she do after she sang You Light up my Life fifty different ways?" Indeed!!!

10. Tonight...on a very special "Family Ties"...
Any show with Debby Boone = "Must Flee TV."

Unless, of course, she is performing with Flea...then it would be "Must FLEA" TV...awwww, never mind, dammit.

15. Does anyone remember when Debby's father, Pat Boone ...
recorded a heavy metal CD? He did metal songs in a swing style. It's both the best and the worst album ever made, LOL!

His performance is a joke and you want to laugh while you're listening to the CD ... but the band he's got playing backup is f*cking AWESOME! You can't stop yourself from tapping your feet and swingin'.

By the way, his arrangement of "Crazy Train" is used as the theme song for "The Osbournes" - but someone else sings it on the show.

Yeah, I know this is supposed to be a Debby Boone thread, but she's only got one song, so I don't have anything to say about her. "You Light Up My Life" covers her entire career!

17. But what about the flip side?
The incredibly forgettable "Hasta Manana"? I worked in AOR radio when this song was hot and I don't even REMEMBER a flip side!

18. Are you talking about the B-side of "You Light Up My Life?"
It was a cover of the Crystals' 1962 hit, "He's A Rebel." What's surprising is that it actually wasn't bad!

21. the really horrifying thing is....
For a very long time it held the record for most weeks at the Number One position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (10 weeks).

Just goes to show you that Billboard pop chart records don't really amount to crap at the end of the day.
