i'm a real asshole about it too. so often i have experienced some loud rap or country crap blasting from the car next to me at a stoplight. for a whole minute or more, i've had to sit there and hear obscenities at top volume and bass notes so deep and loud my guts boiled, and insulted with garth brooks or lee greenwood whining thickly at ear bleeding volume.

so, i've taken to inflicting my music on others for revenge. when i approach a yellow light, i hit the search button on the c.d. player and crank up louis armstrong, etta james, cab callaway, tex williams, mambo kings, miles davis, captain beefheart, zappa, the doors, hendrix, louie jordan, big joe williams, dan hicks and his hot licks, and frank sinatra, JUST to counteract all the crap i hear at the light.

maybe i should stop though. i enjoy listening to music in the car, but i feel the need to 'keep up' and fight back against the constant wall of offending non music and sheer noise i must endure.

it's a good thing i don't pack a semi auto rifle.

1. Good for you! You're fighting the people who have the bass cranked up...
WAY too fucking high. I hate that fucking shit. When you can hear that music from the sidewalk, that's noise pollution, pure and simple. This is one of my BIG pet peeves. There's no fucking excuse for that shit. And you're suffering for it, as well. So, good for you. Don't let those rude assholes ruin your listening pleasure in YOUR car.

3. That ignore function can come in handy. I didn't know it had so many uses.
I can think of several people here at work I'd like to use it on.

4. Better watchout Mo, people are legal to pack now
I'm afraid that some people won't bother with permits or classes since the reich wing here has taken over, they'll just throw a gun or three in the car with them and go looking for an excuse to use it.
Though some of the people you describe probably have been packing anyway.

10. If they carry without a permit
It is a felony weapons posession. Of course the only thing to keep someone from carrying a concealed weapon BEFORE permits was that it was illegal.

It's just as illegal to carry a concealed weapon now, that it was before permits were issued.

I like to BLAST my music at stop signs as well. You've got some good music tastes as well, but I've been blasting Clutch lately.

6. I do the same but with the most out jazz I have on hand...
You should see the looks I get when crank up Roscoe Mitchell or the other Art Ensemble of Chicago guys (their harder-edge recordings), Sonny Sharrock, Billy Bang (especially Vietnam: The Aftermath), Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Peter Brotzman, Roland Kirk...

btw...I LOVE your choices

7. A friend had good results with "Ride of the Valkyries"
Or a bit of Beethoven--on some really good speakers.

A while back, I stopped next to some young African-Americans in a cute convertible. Their system was pretty loud--but it was playing zydeco (which is big in Houston). It sounded delightful.
