You might wanna check the Meeting Room if you want news from the gardens of DU. There is usually a thread for us 'earth movers' there this time of year.

Purrrty kitty you have there!

I'll check out the meeting room.

7. 'Double Delight'?
I have about 150 rose bushes - but the only thing blooming right now are the species. Can't wait for the Autin's to bloom. Millions of buds - but it'll be another couple of weeks.

10. Yes, 'Double Delight'
We only have around 40 rose bushes. We had more but we have been thinning them down, and will probable remove a few more. They are in bloom most of the year here in So. Calif, except for a few months after pruning.

6. my sister is a rose FANATIC
if you have a question, I can get the answer.

I love the garden. I hope to plant some Cardinalis vine
(hummingbirds) today and some runner beans. The lilies are up as well and my CLematis - JAckmanii is almost done. Can't wait for the black eyed susans to bloom and echinachea. I am really into vines this year.

I just have a Queen Eliz. Rose though, very hardy. I would like to get a yellow one, though or an orange and yellow one. :hi:

Plain type, tea roses don't do well here. Oh, we have a wild rose too. We are building a garden from scratch, and it's a long process.

At our old house there was a lady down the way who grew a huge hummingbird garden, and we got a lot of then to our feeder. Those little guys are hilarious, they are bad-tempered little buggers. We'd sit out on the deck for hours watching them. Three kinds: Rufous, Ruby-throat, and Calliope, only place these three coexist. Then Kay got old and sold her house, and that was the end of the hummers.

Edit: Forgot to mention that my alpines are really showing well now. These are plants we dug out of the ditches up in the foothills. They seem to really like it here.

8. Not a rose, but...
my bee balm began blooming the other day!

It smells wonderful. I have it in a triangular bed between paths. I can't wait to let it and my catmint go at each other and see which one wins.

13. Ever tried a Heliotrope?
It's an annual in most places, and the fragrance is incredible. On a calm night here, my one little plant can scent the whole yard.
