1. it ain't easy
Sorry to disappoint you but there are very expensive search engine optimization specialists who try to do this for their clients. It is not an easy task and it is a moving target. Expect to pay $thousands.

You might be better off just buying a banner placing from Google.

4. hi matcom
Hi Matcom, I used to do it for a living too but I got really tired of clients who wanted to be on page one for a couple hundred bucks. They have *no* idea how much work it can be.

5. hey matcom
I've always thought 99% of these SEO specialists are scam artists.

Yes, there are good guys but with google changing its algo so often it is almost impossible to guarantee a client a top position. I do my SEO by myself. Some common sense, some good link exchanges, some content and some research. Yes I can do better but I don't trust anyone with my SEO. I've seen too many scammers :)

Having said that I am sure you are good at what you're doing :hi:

99% ARE scammers unfortunately
because they either don't keep up with the algo changes (or can't) or think its a submission game. makes the rest of us have to fight tooth and nail to convince clients that its imperrative to their success.

i won't even TALK to someone for a couple of hundred bucks. although i charge much less if i am designing their site (a site CAN be designed to be search engine friendly)

2. Lots of work involved
It depends on the competition for a particular phrase though.

If you want your site shown under "cute black puppy with pink nose" or something like that it won't be that hard. But for a competitive phrase you'll have to work hard to get your site shown on the first page.

The other solution is to use Google Adwords program, where your site is shown to the right of the search results. But you have to pay there. Minimal bid is 5 cents, some commercial phrases can reach up to 2$ per click.

9. Be careful with Adwords
You can spend thousands in 1 day without even noticing it :)

Be sure to set a daily limit you can afford. The problem there is if you set a low daily spending limit, your ad won't be shown 100% of the time. If you set it high then you risk spending too much as I said. Be very careful.
