3. Beat me to it
Plus it would be neat to say "Hey, Guy" and actually be calling someone by their name.

12. Reggie was great as a Hawk.
He played there when I went to school. IIRC, Hayden used him for kickoffs too and he used to knock those through the uprights regularly.

13. I was there then, too
yep, he used to split the uprights on kickoff often. Those games with him and Long and Harmon and the rest were great.

14. Hayden was great too. What a change from Bob Cummings!
Our standing joke about Bob Cummings was that his gameplan consisted of running up the middle twice, then a middle draw, and punt. When he was really going nuts, he'd try a middle screen.

Then comes Hayden. I swear every game had a new trick play. Plus, he was a riot to listen to on his interviews.

15. Ol' 1/2 a yard and a cloud of mud Bob
yep, I recall him, he got the axe one year before I got there, so I was never there under him and missed Hayden's first year. Hayden was great - good intervies, good marketing, fun coaching. Iowa really needed him.

I saw in another post that you're from IA! Where abouts? I grew up in the Des Moines area...well, actually, I think many of my friends would doubt that I've grown up at all...

Just curious...

6. TOM TUPA!!!
And I know my punters.

Tupa was the first NFL player to score a 2-pt, Extra point after it was reinstated. He started at QB and punter at Ohio State.

And wasn't he a place kicker?

Tony Meola is my favorite punter. He plays REAL football.

8. I Have a Soft Spot for Reggie Roby
Reggie Roby punted for the Dolphins and looked like an offensive lineman. Most punters go up on their toes (of the plant foot) when they punt (see picture above).

Reggie simply stomped his whole foot down and swung his kicking leg. Terrible form but you couldn't argue with it. He had a hang time of about 15 seconds.

Yeah, yeah... Bash away, Cowboy-haters. (remember that it was in the days of Staubach, Dorsett, Landry, and Tex Schramm)

<sigh> I miss my old Cowboys...

EDIT: Shit. I just realized that I confused a kicker with a punter. I just thought "kicks the ball", and remembered the glory days. Oh well.
