Well, just finished my oddest impulse buy - perogies |

There's a little shack set up here in the summer called the "Perogie hut"
I was walking buy and couldn't resist ...bought me a plate-load....MMM!

Actually believe it or not, in this area of BC Perogies are a traditional food. The area was settled by Duhkabors - Russian Exhiles. And if you go to for instance - Grand Forks - there's tons of restaurants that have russian dishes on the menu, as well as a proud heritage.
There was even a "terrrorist" movement in the 60s concerning the group...there was some kind of division between them (I think, not really knowledgable here)

We can only get the frozen ones and they taste like cardboard. Someday I will spend an afternoon making them from scratch and then Watch Out-----pure joy!

Ex-Pittsburgher living in cleveland...some of the best places to get pierogi are from local churches...the homemade stuff..mmm!
