3. IBC from Texas
They make great root beer. Barq's was really good too until Coca Cola took them over.

30. Speaking of Barq's....
Edited on Fri Jun-04-04 11:40 PM by mahatmakanejeeves
I got some twelve packs recently when the local store put them on sale: five twelve packs for $10.

The aspartame-sweetened variety is waaaay too sweet, like cherry cola. The real sugar-sweetened variety is also more like cherry cola than root beer.

8. We have "Dog 'N Suds" here -- anyone ever try that?
Hubby says it's too sweet -- I'm a diabetic so I only drink the diet kind, and they have a good one.

9. IBC....actually its pretty good. I used to like Dads.
but that was years and years ago, when Dads was still local in Chicago.

IBC nowadays is the best store-bought root beer for me. It has more flavor..not "root beer flavored sugar water".

18. I always have some antique A&W glass mugs in my freezer
Drinking it out of them takes me right back to hot summer nights at the old root beer stand - 1959!

21. They'll still give you a frosty mug at the A&W restaurants.
As long as you're having your root beer at the restaurant, they'll give you a frosty mug.

But I really don't like A&W Root Beer, so I always fill it with Mountain Dew. ;)

since I don't drink sugared drinks, I can only comment on the sugar free...

25. Challenge Root Beer.
It's only available at the Minnesota State Fair.

It's a really sweet drink, and it has a maple flavour to it. And you need to have it with ice to truly experience it. If you're ever at The Great Minnesota Get-Together, go to the booth that will give it to you with ice, not the one that doesn't have any.
