How would you rate your speech skills?

I speak well, but I'm very shy and really have to prepare A LOT.

14. Echo
Me too. When I was in junior high my teacher said I did it like I did it for a living.

But I do have to memorize or have the text before me, like politicians with their prompters.

I COULD BE PRESIDENT!

Only I would not lie, use bad logic, repeat talking points or buzz phrases, start needless wars, be uninformed and just read any old speech written by one of Cheney's psychos, pander to right wing christian wackos, etc. ;)

4. Crappy
I talk way too fast when I'm nervous. But people tell me that I come across as "sincere" when I give a speech. So, I guess that ranks me as a "2" or so.

Depends on my preparation. I think I can belt out a good speech if I have to.

8. Pretty damn good - how good, you ask? Well, I'm a professor,
I teach med students, I'm not an MD but a PhD and in spite of that handicap, they nominated me for a teaching award. I felt really good about that, as you might imagine. Epidemiology is not the subject everyone waits for eagerly in med school. But I enjoy teaching it, & I guess it comes across.

15. Congratulations! Very cool@being nominated for the teaching award
I had to look 'epidemiology' up in the dictionary. It sounds like it would be a very fascinating subject (with the right teacher, of course!)

11. Definitely 10
I'm a professional musician/vocalist and MC.
Do it all the time and have to constantly improvise.
It's all about being relaxed (like anything you do well).

12. Good, even impromtu speeches
For formal things, I'm much better than at parties I think. I was a bit of a theater kid, so that whole performance thing never bothered me.

13. I'm quite good
I enjoy it, I'm comfortable doing it - in fact, it excites me! I wish I could do it more...

And, beyond all that, I know what I'm doing when I speak publicly and can control, my voice and - most importantly, and I'm not being sarcastic here, this is really, really important - old people can hear me clearly and get every word.

17. Excellent
I am an actor and acting coach as well as political speech coach.I once spoke on behalf of a candidate for whom I was working and the audience thought I should run instead. That was NOT a good thing!
