Dumbledore Looked Different

I know he's now played by Michael Gambon due to the passing of Richard Harris, but I was a little surprised, they didn't have the same costuming for Gambon as for Harris. I would have thought they would have tried to disguise the fact that they're different actors more. Remember that Harris had long flowing robes and a very long, white beard and long, flowing white hair:

Gambon, however, has a cap, has gray hair that sticks out, rather than growing particularly long, and a shorter, less thick gray beard that's tied at the bottom. I think the robes are different, too.

Just an observation that I found interesting. I wonder why this is? Assuming that all the beard and hair is all part of costuming, I wonder why they just didn't make the two match?

not as bulky. Gambon wanted to put his own stamp on the character without changing it completely.
