Does anybody know why a CD drive would suddenly stop opening? Is this something I can fix myself without calling in repair service? Thanks.

2. try inserting an unbent paper clip into the little hole on the... |

...front of the drive. That will pop it open manually. If it still won't open by itself afterward you're probably better off just buying a new drive. You could always pull it out and poke around inside looking for a gear that's jumped out of alignment or a striped shaft hole, but I doubt that repair is really an option.

4. you can open it manually with a paper clip |
|
there is a small hole right below the door. Staighten out a paper clip and stick it in the hole. you shold feel some resistance. push and the door will open. It'll let you know if a disc is jammed in there.

I never even saw that little hole there. I'll try it. :)
