More Democrats being created thanks to Worldcomm
This is from a New York Times Magazine story on what has happened to the Worldcomm workers laid off following that corporate scandal...It's a slideshow so it may be slow for those with slower Internet connections.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/06/magazine/06WORLDCOM.html

Bill Kewin, 47, Rowlett, Tex. (with his wife, Elaine). Job title at WorldCom: Senior engineer. Laid off: June 2002. Currently working on contract at MCI and preparing to be a massage therapist. ''I was promised a severance package, but it wasn't coming through. I saw the workers of Enron putting up a fight, so I joined the fight for WorldCom severance pay. I went to Washington, D.C. We won the suit. We got our money. We took nothing more than was owed to us. I'll tell you, this whole experience has turned me into a Democrat.''

1. I'm Certain The Investors
Who lost their collective asses have taken a hard look at the GOP also. It's almost a certainty they won't be voting for Shrub this year.

2. I gotta look this guy up and see if he's listed!
I can invite him to our Rockwall County Democrats meetings! Or if he's on the Dallas County side, send him to the Dallas County meetings.

This is huge, guys. Rowlett and Rockwall are 85% Republican, but we've seen a huge increase in our attendance the last year or so.

When I first started going to meetings, there were maybe 15 to 20 people there. In April, there were OVER 60 people. We've had other events going on, and our regular spot is being remodeling, so we're waiting for all the regulars to catch up to use at our new spot.

At the Founder's Day event last month, we had a booth set up (the Repubs didn't-- why should they with the vote locked up, right?) It was amazing the interest we had. Of course, we still had the right-wing nutjobs walking by making stupid comments, but we had plenty of interest from people who were getting fed up by Bush and were looking into alternatives.

If you're on the Rockwall County side of Rowlett, come check us out:
