You're mistaking controlling the tempo and tough defense for a lack of ability. Rip, Sheed, Tayshaun, on and on...all great scorers. Even Ben Wallace was lighting it up towards the end of the Indiana series.

14. They're a half-court defensive team

and except for Hamilton they're limited offensively. The Lakers are also a half-court team with offense (and friendly refs).

The Pistons don't have a chance unless they go off script, get out on the break, tire out the fossils on the Lakers and hope for a modicum of fairness from the refs.

But I don't think they will.

I doubt their capacity to take a 7 game series, but I think they'll take tonight's game. Reminds me of the series with Philadelphia in 2000. Nobody expected the Sixers to take a game, and they shocked everybody by taking Game 1 in LA.
