|
Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 08:29 PM by Zech Marquis
just chatted with my gf now :-) I'm going to add a visit to USJ and even Tokyo Disney Sea when I go and visit her this October :bounce: and then...
I think I'll prpare for the next trip to be a one way trip. I'm positive Kerry will win now, but for me and my gf..we ant to stay together in Japan. Since sh''s only an hour frm Osaka, I can find work there, teaching english part time or full time, working at the Apple Store expected to open there, or maybe one in Kyoto (it IS the biggest market outside of the US), or other jobs that require people to be permament residents...
we want to be together...any DUers with some handy advice?

1. It's hard to get a work visa unless one of the following is true: |
|
1) You have a job prearranged
2) You're married to a Japanese citizen
Otherwise, you have to get a job, have them fill out the paperwork, and then leave the country to apply for the work visa.
Without a work permit, you can't do ANYTHING, not even open a bank account.

3. or 3) are willing to teach English |
|
Desperate for English teachers over there, easy to get the necessary visas, etc. Heard that from my partner (Kyoto native, and calling from Kyoto) just this morning.

Japan is great, don't get me wrong. But would you rather have President John Kerry or a Diet (Japan's legislature, of course) that physically fights every ten minutes?
And you thought America's Congress wasn't civil?

4. I've seen some of those Diet battles! |
|
so I can ask her about possibly moving here then?
I kind of wish the Congress DID have some knockdown drag out fights
