5. Brevard Music Center, Brevard, NC. The "Tanglewood" of the South.
Always liked "Wolf Trap" outside of Washington, DC, in northern Virginia, too.

Saw Moody Blues there last night, saw Ringo there, and a great Beatle tribute band-'1964'. Small, organized, no traffic jams, food, beer, polite crowds.... Ahhhhh, pleasant!

You might not be able to see the band (unless you're one of the few who bought a seat), but you can bring a wagonload of drink and food -- as elaborate as you want -- in a forest preserve setting.
