what's the most appalling thing you've ever seen a job applicant do or say?
As in, something that had you thinking, "how much brain damage did this person sustain that they actually think they can get away with that in a job interview, and how do they actually manage to function in life being that stupid?"

2. Well, there was the guy who broke down in tears, sobbing and telling |
|
me that if he didn't get the job, his wife was gonna take the kids and leave him. I mean, literally, sobbing, blubbering. I was stunned into silence and did NOT hire him. Later, someone else in my agency did (against my advice). A few weeks later he was arrested for arson (BTW, he was unmarried and had no children)

Her pupils were almost invisible, and she couldn't remember the questions - - or what she was saying - - half way through her answers. She almost fell asleep during the interview.
Then she asked when she'd start - - and then copped a major tude when I said I had other candidates I wanted to interview before I made a final decision.

5. The worst I encountered was actually a job shop agency rep... |
|
... who sent me a resume full of fabrications--including a degree from a non-existent college in the DC area, with an address that seemed to be a vacant lot. I rattled off about six major fabrications among the many in the resume, and ended the conversation by saying, "look--don't insult my intelligence--don't send me any more resumes of people who haven't been vetted. I don't want to see these kinds of fabrications again."
About a month later, I got the exact same resume with the six items removed.

6. I was a projectionist / manager.. |
|
at a movie theater. It was a busy night and I put on the vest and bow-tie to help the ushers. I also did the hiring at the time. This wanker was filling out a application on the counter and commented on me being a control freak and a skinny nerd for asking someone the check the TP in the restrooms. I'm a manager dip-shit. I then informed him I did the hiring and threw his application in the trash. My advice is to wait until you have the job before you talk shit.

8. Kick for the AM crowd. Thanks to those who've replied so far. |
|
It's funny, I always keep thinking that these kinds of people only exist in bad sitcoms or comedy movies, and then I keep getting reminders that there are actually people like that in real life.
