Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 06:16 PM by Darth_Kitten
For the hockey lovers...... I've been hearing a lot about the recent Stanley Cup series and I would like to know what you have to say, both pro and con. :)

3. How and why is it "fixed" and who is doing the "fixing".
First I've heard of this.

6. on sports boards......
NHL brass.....it's all about money and greed, Bettman is undermining the NHL....uh, what else? The game 6 Calgary goal should have been allowed.....the refs have a reputation of being biased....that kind of stuff. They didn't want the Stanley Cup to be won by a "Canadian" team.
I haven't been following hockey for the longest time, so I was wondering what people had to say about it. :)

5. Are you talking about Darryl Sutter's comments?
That the League didn't want Calgary to win? Horse pucks. Coaches do that occasionally just to rally their players.

7. When I hear about bias in sports......
I tend to believe it now, I don't know, there have just been too many controversies lately. :)

9. I voted NO!!!
Frankly, I don't see any true evidence that the fix is in. Sure, Calgary possibly scored a goal. If I remember correctly, on the goal in question, it bounced off the players skate, and the player was right there in front of the crease. He would have had the best view of the puck, and he didn't put up a stink. Yea, I saw the tv replays and it looks like it could have been a goal, but not absolutely 100%. Really though, if you think of it. Why would the NHL ALLOW Calgary to win three games to begin with?? That leaves an awful lot to chance. Also, in game 7, Calgary was given a power play that was bogus, late in the game. Because of that, should I say the fix was in, and they didn't want Tampa to win??? Fans are pissed, their team got close. They should be stoked how far their team got, and enjoy the ride...Kevin.

10. Voted Yes
There was bias towards Tampa (esp by the ESPN/ABC crew), and Bettman needed this to say "See, expansion is/was a great idea!"

The thing is, we Caps fans KNEW that all the calls would Tampa's way. After all, it was "suspect" officiating that helped Tampa in the TB/Wash first round series last year. Well, that and the Caps always choke.

11. No, it's not fixed.
How silly. Even if the puck was over the line in game 6, which it wasn't, it would have been called back for kicking it in anyway. I wanted Calgary to win as much as anyone who lives there but there was no fix.

12. No
The NHL doesn't fix games. That's silly.

It's the NBA that fixes games -- in favor of the Lakers! Time how long the Lakers had to hit the game winning shot in Game 5!

0.4 of a second, my ass.

:)
