British TV series Spitting Image to return?
http://www.megastar.co.uk/world/news/2004/05/18/sMEG01MTA4NDg3NTIzMDg.html

The Spitting Image puppets could be coming out of the closet again, just in time to give Labour a proper roasting.

Famous for their biting satire, the show tore apart Margaret Thatcher at the height of her Tory reign, as well as making us chuckle about Frank Bruno now and then.

(snip)

If all goes well, the show could return to our screens by autumn next year. Even though Tony blair might not be Prime Minister by then.

Ohhhh I can just see minibrain as a Spitting Image puppet...

4. Didn't Sid and Marty Krofft try a satirical puppet show ... "D.C. Follies"
http://www.butterfields.com/about/press/press/press_entertainment_022603.html

"One of a kind puppets to be offered feature a star-studded roster of celebrity likenesses. The Kroffts’ Elvis, Cher, Dolly Parton, Steve Martin, Woody Allen, Bette Davis and Katherine Hepburn foam rubber puppets are estimated at $1,500 to $2,500 each. These puppets appeared on the 1980’s syndicated D.C. Follies. Also on offer from that program are puppets in the likeness of Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Mikhail Gorbachev, Fidel Castro, Prince Charles and Margaret Thatcher. TV interviewers Oprah and Phil puppets are included and in the world of the Kroffts, no one was spared from potential parody - religious personalities Tammy Fay and Jim Baker, Jessie Jackson as well as Pope John Paul puppets are to be offered to the highest bidders."

3. How could they resist?!
I know they sold off most of the puppets a few years back, but I was hoping they would find the present-day situation just too weird to ignore.

Nearly laughed myself sick when the Poppy Bush puppet was assulted by a killer sprig of broccoli. Imagine what they'd do with the pretzel incident!
