anyone know this group Bright Eyes? |
|
The singer, on Kilborn, just said he admires the governor of the California and the president of the United States, and "their creepy fascist agendas." I think it's a rerun.

1. "Bright Eyes" is, pretty much, the singer. |
|
His name is Conor Oberst. He was a friend of Elliot Smith's, reputedly, and was really broken up when Smith died. He's pretty outspoken, doesn't think much of Bush. That's about all I've got.

the Omaha, Nebraska, music scene. (Really. There is an Omaha music scene.) I used to trade music with a former co-worker of my husband, and the guy was a huge fan of emo-core groups from that area.
A great resource for information about bands is www.allmusic.com (although they don't have samples or downloads).
Edited for typo.

3. heck, I believe you. :) |

Even Tuscaloosa used to have a decent music scene. But all the cool venues have been killed by "gentrification." They've even shut down the Chukker, the coolest bar in town for many years. A cousin of mine used to be in an emo-core band out of Dayton, Ohio. It was called Blue Ash Solution. Unfortunately, it sounded like noise to me. :)

4. That's a great name for a band... |
|
although after a couple of beers, the word "ash" might get a little sloppy.
We have some good clubs here, but the bands I want to see are at the places where a) I'd have to stand all night, and b) I would still reek of cigarette smoke after a week of showers. The punk and indie clubs just don't plan for old ladies like me. ;-)

I'm not real clear on this, but I *think* it came from some sort of racial dispute in a community near Dayton called Blue Ash. But my cousin is a real liberal, hippie type dude up there. :)

6. I just saw them on the show. |
|
I didn't hear that comment. They remind me somewhat of the Violent Femmes.
