Does your dog "run" in its sleep?
I have noticed a couple of my mutts will start moving their legs like they are running while they are asleep. Must be dreaming huh?

My cats do it too
Pad Thai likes to sleep on top of the stereo and it's really funny to see him start running in his sleep up there.

Lily really likes to eat. I've actually seen her move her lips in her sleep, no kidding.

7. I wanted to have fun with his name
since he's a Siamese. He's also long and thin like a rice noodle.

8. my dad always said sleeping dogs were "chasing rabbits."
We lived in the 'burbs, and no one ever saw a rabbit up close, unless it was a school pet or at the zoo.

I wondered why my dog would chase something it didn't know existed.

10. When dogs eat, they eat with total concentration
when dogs sleep, they sleep with the same effort as eating.

Their dreams must be super.

12. Mine Does Also... And She Barks In Her Sleep Too
sometimes it's just a little faint "woof"... other times she actually wakes herself up!

I've heard the "chasing rabbits" explanation too... but in our case, I imagine she's chasing one of her balls or her squeakie-babies.

14. Mine do that, too
I've watched this. It's not random twitching, the muscles the dog uses to run are stimulated and one of my boys barks in his sleep often. Very strange but interesting.

Just before falling asleep, Sadie often lets out a long sigh, "ahmmmmmmmmmmm", it's hilarious.

15. My Buddy dog...
twitches and moves his legs. He also whimpers. I think he's dreaming about the dumb ass who cut off his tail. Someone actually cut off about 1/3 of his little tail before he chose us to live with. Now I know people do this intentionally to Dobermans, Rots, etc. I think it's cruel.

16. Misty and Heidi...
Whimper in their sleep.

Bailey, though, let out what I could only describe as a yowl the other day. It scared the shit out of me! I ran to see what was wrong and found him sleeping on the couch twitching like mad. I had to put my hands on him and start rubbing and talking to him. When he woke up he snuggled very near me. His heart was racing. Don't know what his former family did to him but it must have been heartbreaking.
