ex Midnight Oil frontman Garrett to run for office
I am a very passionate Midnight Oil fan and have been for years. Just thought that some of you night be interested in the ex-singer's second foray into Austrailian politics. He is very progressive and has wonderful populist and pro-environmental views!

And, it you aren't interested, that's ok too! I just love their music and their politics - some of the best political anthems in many years, IMO.

1. Good luck to him!
I saw Midnight Oil back in the late 1980s. Still one of the tightest bands I've ever seen. They put on a good show.

Go Peter!

2. Sadly I never got to see them live
my band was always playing the same night when they were at the Amphitheatre here ( which I hate and usually refuse to go to) or I was on vacation. And now it's too late. :( Instead I just annoy all my friends by playing their music and singing along.

3. Wow, cool!
Any man who wrote songs like Midnight Oil's would be great to have in office. He definitely "gets it"!

5. Didn't he run once before?
back in the 90's? I thought he held office too but I could be wrong

Yes! One of the best live bands I've ever seen. Saw them several times back in the day.

apparently. This time he looks like a shoe-in. He's running from a very liberal part of Sydney, according to the article.

7. When BC was going through the environmental wars....
regarding old growth forests, Midnight Oil was there camping out with the enviros in Clayoquat Sound. I loved them before and I still play their music. I hope he wins this election. We could do with more politicians like him worldwide.

10. I also LOVE the Oils....even went to a concert once...
outdoor concert in Cincy...they where supporting Earth and Sun and Moon.

OUTSTANDING live act!

I got into them via "Red Sails at Sunset", and stayed a BIG fan of the band.

They just rule. Once of the best acts of the recent past.
