I embarrassed a dear coworker today. |
|
D. is such a dear, sweet, young woman (and liberal to the core). She adopted two of my foster kittens a few years ago. We're not on the same level at work -- she's an atty; I'm a sec'y -- but it hasn't mattered.
I ran into D. in the coffee room. She reached for a mug and groaned w/ pain. I asked what had happened, and she said she thought she may've cracked a rib. I asked how. She didn't really answer, and I said "were you in a wreck?" "no..." "Did someone hit you?" (jokingly) "no.... someone tried to move me when I was in an awkward position and . . . ."
 I felt so bad. I feel so bad about pushing to find out how she'd hurt herself. I hope I didn't really embarrass her. :(

1. What's so embarrassing? |
|
Asking someone how they got banged up just means you care.

6. Or, for that matter... |
|
...how they got banged.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. She would've had something prepared to explain the injury if she was terribly ashamed of it.

I once noticed that one of my favorite co-workers had a bandage on her head.......and asked what happened...she told me that the lamp fell off her headboard because the bed bounced too hard.......then she doubled up laughing....
I didn't know what to say...silently slipped away while she was laughing and blushing at the same time.

3. I'd find a quiet moment... |
|
...and apologize. Just explain that you were concerned, and not trying to pry.
Is she dear, sweet, young and single? :spank:

4. "Is she dear, sweet, young and single?" |

All of the above, but if someone was trying to move her while in an awkward position, I don't know HOW "single" she is. :)

7. I wouldn't feel too bad |
|
If she were that embarrassed, she probably would have made up some other kind of story, honestly.
And I'd like some of what she's having, please. ;)

9. Reminds Me Of A Tenant Of Ours... |
|
While in the elevator, my dad commented to him and his wife "You know... the bedsprings in the master bedroom squeak quite loudly. Night before last, we were awake for almost two hours. You might consider... oiling them..."
Turns out he had picked his wife up at the airport (from a two week stay with her parents) that very morning! She was NOT amused!
heeheeheeheehee! OOOOOPS!
