1. We do, too.
I saw Ben Folds Five in Cincinnati years ago -- I guess it's been close to ten years, now, probably '95 or '96. It takes immense guts (or lots of alcohol, though I can't imagine Ben could play the way he does if he was too loaded) to cover Jimi Hendrix with no guitarist, but their version of 'Crosstown Traffic' smoked.

3. I saw him open for Tori Amos last year. Five minutes before the show,
the skies opened up and it just POURED. lightning, thunder, the works. Ben walks out on stage and sits down at his piano and starts singing "raindrops keep fallin' on my head."

he's a GOD.

2. Coming to Philly on the 27th.
I'm a huge Ben Folds AND Rufus Wainwright fan. "Still Fighting It" is one of the best father/son songs ever. Chokes me up every time.

Are you going to the show?

4. I'm going to the Baltimore show, but I was just looking at the Philly date
and thinking "hmmmm...what's one MORE!"

I'm like 45 minutes from Baltimore and at least an hour from Philly.

I adore Rufus. I've seen him at the Recher in Baltimore(he was great, but absolutely toasted on merlot) and at DAR Constitution Hall in D.C. opening up for Tori Amos. I got him to autograph a cd for a friend who had sent me an autographed Elliott Smith cd (nice trade) and I asked him to make it out to "Keith" and he said, "uh...I don't *do* names." bitch!

9. I don't know who they are but I'll go to the Philly show with you
I need to expand my musical tastes

BTW, a certain friend we both know has an extra ticket to Brittney Spears and it's not the short one.

5. He's going to be playing Summerfest here...
...where you only need a general admission ticket to the festival!!! And he'll be there on one of the few days of the 11-day festival that I won't be out of town!!! Wooooo-hooooooo!!!!!

I saw him at the same stage two years ago, and my only lament was that it was so jam-packed that I really had to jockey for position in order to see him.

(For those who don't know, Summerfest is considered the world's largest music festival, with free music on something like 8 stages for 12 hours a day, 11 days in a row.)

6. That song (RtSub) was the death knell for red-hatted,
asshole rock. Thanks Ben!
