Pittsburgh DUers, mark your calendars! |
|
Warning, shameless self promotion ahead...
On July 11th, my film, Washington Interns Gone Bad, will be on the big screen. It will be screening at the Funnybone comedy club in Pittsburgh, PA, doors at 7, film at 8, with $2 Yuengling bottles and a special appearance by Adam Kroloff who plays the sleazy congressman in the film. Discounted DVDs of the film will also be available.
This is a no budget political comedy shot guerrilla style on location in Washington, DC. It's the story of Becky, an idealistic recent college graduate who comes to Washington to intern for her congressman and is rudely awakened to the ugly reality of national politics in post-9/11 DC.
It was inspired in equal parts by the films of John Waters and Kevin Smith, the anti-globalization movement, and my experiences working at the DNC during the 2000 election season.
You can watch the trailer, read reviews and see all sorts of behind the scenes goodies at www.WashingtonInternsGoneBad.com

Cool. I had followed up on a link to the website some months ago and am delighted to know that I'll be able to see it next month.

why the Funnybone though? Sounds like a Filmmakers kind of thing... or at the Warhol. :yourock:
my brother worked for a congressman in DC for many years. I will send info to him as well.

I responded to an online ad looking for independent comedies for this series that they were having at the Funnybone and they booked it. As I live all the way out here on the left coast, it's really hard to set up far away screenings without being part of the local microcinema scenes.

an independent group aligned with Filmmakers, which screen independent films here and also teach fimmaking. YOu might want to check them out as well. I see. Good luck... maybe we will try to go.

Any more info you could get me on this group would be greatly appreciated. One of my main actors lives there and I could have him try to hook something up.
Thanks!

4. Thanks to both of you! |

Thanks for all the great support. I'm hoping this movie catches on and becomes a cult classic throughout this election season. Please post any comments or reviews once you've seen it and let me know. I'm working on getting screenings in San Francisco and Mendocino as well as some encore screenings in DC.
